Ms Treherne, who filmed the snake fight, told Latest which documents wildlife experiences in South Africa: 'I drove up a small rise and saw movement out of the corner of my eye.'At first glance, I thought it was a spitting cobra that had its hood up, but after a closer inspection, I then saw it was actually two mambas.'I quickly flagged the other players in my four ball to slow down and called a 4 ball behind us to come forward and to also watch.'I called my husband who was a the house house to bring our son and watch as well' she said.

The group quickly realized that this was quite a rare sighting, so paused the game and sat and watched the amazing sighting.

Many golfers have made elaborate excuses to avoid a tricky hole – but for a group on a South African course two deadly black mambas fighting ranks up there with the best.

Golfer Cara Treherne and three pals were playing a round at Leopard Creek golf course just outside the Kruger National Park's Malelane Gate when they encountered this lethal hazard.

The two mambas thrashed it out for over five minutes in what is known as 'plaiting combat' as they tied each other in knots and shoved each other with their heads in a power struggle.

Ms Treherne and her group wisely made the decision to stay in their golf buggies and gave the mambas – who can kill a human in just 20 minutes with a bite – a very wide berth to the fifth hole.
